Unit 2 Portfolio - Events Leading to Civil War Timeline (Due 2/9/22)

Throughout this unit, you have been working on your portfolio project. This project is a timeline of events leading to the Civil War. Your final timeline should include 8–10 items that are illustrative of important issues or significant events that led to the outbreak of the Civil War. Each item should include an image, a 1-2 sentence summary, & a date.

Step 1: Research

  1. Identify at least 8 items (events or factors) that led to the Civil War through your work in your class lessons.

  2. Identify a date associated with each item. Be as specific as possible. If your item is a single event, include the month, day, and year. If it’s not a single event, include the month and year, or just a year.

  3. Select visuals to represent each event you choose. One image per event.

  4. 1-2 sentence summary describing the event or factor.

  5. You must use a minimum of 2 resources when conducting you research. Make sure to record the site or book you used when conducting your research. WIKIPEDIA does not count.

The events on your timeline should cover a variety of areas—social, political, and economic.

Step 2 – Create the Pre-Civil War Timeline.
After you complete your research, create your timeline.  You can create this by hand, google doc, Microsoft Word, or another word processor

  2. Add each of your 8-10 events. **Remember timelines are sequential.  Dates must be in chronological order.**

  • A date (month/day/year--if possible)

  • A 1-2 sentence summary of event

  • An image to represents the event
